A treasure chest

The sea is undoubtedly the protagonist, in a holiday in San Vito Lo Capo, but not only for the splendid "city" beach, of slowly paling pink sand, very suitable for families and children, on which the seaside village was built. In fact, the beaches that follow one another to the west of the country are not to be missed: the beaches of Salinella and Isulidda, the pebbled cove of Bue Marino, the cliff of Màkari, the Santa Margherita Bay, and so up to, always ideally along the coast, to the Natural Reserve of Mount Cofano up to the beach of Torre Tono. Here, before diving into the sea, you can dedicate your time to walking the various paths to discover Pizzo Cofano and its beauty, admiring breathtaking views from above.

Likewise, moving eastwards, an unmissable natural wonder is the Zingaro Reserve, almost 1,700 hectares of unspoiled nature on seven kilometres of coastline on which there is no coastal road, whose splendid coves can only be reached on foot and some only via sea ... A paradise also for trekking lovers, with routes of varying degrees of difficulty, among Mediterranean vegetation, cliffs, caves and gorges, and equally ideal for bird-watching: 39 species of birds nest in the Zingaro, including the peregrine falcon and the rare Bonelli's eagle, and is a stage of migration for others such as the golden eagle and the honey buzzard.

The Reserve unites, and at the same time and divides, the territory of San Vito Lo Capo and that of Castellammare del Golfo, which the end of the Zingaro reserve presents itself with Scopello, another naturalistic treasure thanks to its beaches, coves and sea stacks, and which continues with its beaches, above all the splendid bay of Guidaloca.
